This is probably a bit late for gunjah, but I noticed that the installer of the last version (17.0) hangs right after the installation of the help files and modelsim.
To install everything I first installed all except those two components (just uncheck them when prompted during the manual installation) and after that manually installed modelsim running its installer script (found in the "components" subfolder of the .tar archive).

I've been trying for hours to install this. The necessary files are being expanded, but then the installation somehow stops without a warning message. The build folder doesn't grow anymore. I've waited for hours, but nothing happened. I don't need the latest version. I would just like this to work. Can someone help?

So sorry, I've been busy with graduation and a recent move so it was awhile until I had the time to get a computer of mine up and running with enough storage to build this package.

There already exists a modular version of Quartus in the AUR, quartus-lite and all the related packages.

I would suggest splitting the package since this contains Quartus, Device support files and Modelsim ASE.

Package installed without problems, but when I try to open help I get following information in the console:
firefox: /opt/altera/16.0/quartus/linux64/ version `GLIBCXX_3.4.21' not found (required by firefox)
Seems that quartus uses its own copies of pretty much all libraries and they take precedence over system ones... Any idea how to fix it?

Added the dependencies. I didn't realize they were missing, thank you.

Needs lib32-ncurses5-compat-libs for 64-bit installations and ncurses5-compat-libs for 32bit installations in order to modelsim to work. This is also documented in the wiki.
