The repository for linux-rt and linux-rt-lts has moved to a new location.

If you use the custom repository, please update your pacman.conf accordingly, as the other one is going away by the end of the month (January 2021)!

to7m commented on 2018-05-12 22:57 The CONFIG_HZ options are currently unaltered (set to 300), but according to this page should be set to 1000 if I understand correctly :)

I apologize, but it happened that unpacking and compilation passed without "extra" manipulation of the keys ... It started with: makepkg -sri --skipchecksums --skippgpcheck ...

bsd-unpacking error. Keys verification errors (unknow keys)

sharddin, if you need help, write complete sentences. Too funny, at the moment there's a thread regarding checksums vs signing at Arch general. Take a look at the PKGBUILD's "validpgpkeys" section. From command line e.g. run

$ gpg --keyserver hkp:// --recv-keys ABAF11C65A2970B130ABE3C479BE3E4300411886

Why do you build from AUR without reading the wiki?

Btw. I used the current PKGBUILD, it builds without issues.

$ uname -rm
4.16.7-rt1-1-rt x86_64

FWIW, I've updated the script for 4.16-rt already, I normally run it for a while before I push it, especially when it's such a version jump. Will bump the package if there are no problems..

I made it CONFIG_NO_HZ_IDLE though..

@Ralf_Mardorf: It's odd arch's main kernel did that. Not much to say until we hear from them on this topic.

Re: announcement, it wasn't meant to bother the maintainers (who surely know about releases immediately), but rather sharing on the happiness; I've had a Vega64 for around a month, in which I had to suffer through 4.15+ requirement, with no -rt. I definitely wish the realtime team well on their effort to get PREEMPT_RT mainlined.

Ralf_Mardorf commented on 2018-05-04 17:09

The maintainer is subscribed to linux-rt-users and most likely didn't miss the announcement. You might have noticed his request.

The config provided by his current tarball is equal to mine.

$ uname -r; zgrep CONFIG_NO_HZ /proc/config.gz
# CONFIG_NO_HZ_FULL is not set
# CONFIG_NO_HZ is not set

rvalles, what's your opinion on that?

rvalles commented on 2018-05-04 08:10

4.16 patches available.

@scimmia: Thanks !:) Just a coincidence, but here is a recent quote from one of the rt patch developers on the mailing list regarding applying the rt patch to an unintended kernel version.

"I'd be careful about this. There's a few (not many) subtle changes that get backported to stable that can break RT. You wont be able to notice it with compiling, but it can cause deadlocks in certain scenarios."

jhernberg commented on 2018-02-07 19:09

Yes, as gcc got updated nvidia aborts the module building. This is a good thing as you could otherwise experience subtle bugs. I've bumped the pkgver so that you guys rebuild the kernel, after that nvidia will build again.
