Hey anarsoul, is there any possibility to rollback to 5.7.10 kernel? I've also got an xps7590, but have totally forgotten there's no nvidia drivers for 5.9 yet.

Could you maybe share your patches for the previous kernel? Cheers!

Awesome, that was quick. Thanks anarsoul!

Updated to 5.9

Hey folks, I don't have the patches for 5.9 yet. There's a new patchset from Lyude but it's for drm-tip which is newer than 5.9 and won't apply cleanly. I'll look into backporting it to 5.9 when I get some time.

I can see the confusing phrasing, my bad. :) I have an XPS 15 7590, everything worked out-of-the box otherwise.

Ah, I mistakenly thought you were trying to get it in mainline linux. Which laptop do you have if I may ask? I recently got the Dell 7590 and since I've not been using it much I could live without brightness controls, but it would be nice to have.

Anyway, hopefully anarsoul will update this package when Arch updates to linux 5.9

Hi, InspiringSand: I've been using anarsoul's package without any issue for about a month since I just got a new laptop with an OLED display.

I've tried to apply the two patches included in this package (0001-drm-i915-dp-Program-source-OUI-on-eDP-panels.patch and WIP-drm-i915-Enable-Intel-s-HDR-backlight-interface-.patch) to the 5.9 kernel, but it fails, unsurprisingly.

I was wondering if there exists patches for the 5.9 kernel.

Hey Sebastka, could you provide others here with a link to your efforts on getting OLED screen brightness support in the linux kernel? Maybe others can help. I'd like to take a look as well.

I remember trying this linux-oled AUR package a while ago, but ran into a problem, don't remember what though. Maybe I'll try again and I'll report on it here.

Hi anarsoul, I've been trying to get OLED screen brightness support on kernel 5.9 without luck. Are there any patches that work on 5.9?
