link to http://url.muflone.com/xperia-flashtool-0.9.28.0-linux.tar.xz is broken and the original uploaded.to link from the source website as well.

this seems to be a valid mirror though: https://devfiles.co/download/nadttSsu/flashtool-0.9.28.0-linux.tar.xz

the md5 of the above is identical with the one provided at http://www.flashtool.net/downloads_linux.php

It would be cool to add https://www.archlinux.org/packages/community/any/android-udev/ as a dependency and patch the FlashTool* scripts to look for /usr/lib/udev/rules.d instead of /etc/udev/rules.d. That way, we won't have to run this as root.

Nope, was not out of date. Just the version number in the name was/is not updated.

namcap reports needed dependencies gtk3, gtk2, java-runtime, lib32-gcc-libs, libnet.

You are installing a prebuild binary, and not building from source. So, consider adding -bin to the $pkgname, or build from source.

Also, consider striping the ELF files.

<http://url.muflone.com/xperia-flashtool-0.9.25.0-linux.tar.7z> will download an HTML file.
