@martinbaselier

And a big thanks to you as well then!

The greatest thank is for martinbaselier.
He found the patch and applied to git version.

I only cleaned the PKGBUILD.

@mezcal

Just tried it and it works! Builds, installs, and behaves just like it did on XFCE 4.6. This was the main thing I missed after the XFCE 4.8 upgrade. Thank you so much, mezcal!

I have adopted the package.

Try it.

I tried building with both PKGBUILDS, but no luck. Will anyone maintain this package again? It's a very common part of XFCE.

martinbaselier, your PKGBUILD seems to have a syntax error :

/tmp/yaourt-tmp-hellpe/aur-xfce4-places-plugin/./tmp.wy4Qwq2vQN: line 28: Erreur de syntaxe près du symbole inattendu « then »
Impossible de lire le PKGBUILD de xfce4-places-plugin

I created a quick and dirty PKGBUILD which will compile and run on xfce 4.8.

Just choose to edit the PKGBUILD and copy and paste the version from pastebin.
It won't win a beauty price, but it works.
