You need https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/ncurses5-compat-libs/ to be able to build this one.

@jtyr
i tried your solution. the plugin still will not load. firefox sees it in "about:plugins" but when i load the vmware page it will not load the plugin, nor will it show in the plugin icon to ask me to load it on the page. only flash loads.
Do you have a step by step setup i can follow? (note 5.5 works in my 5.5 env. Just cant get 6.0.0 or 6.2.0 on vmware 6.0 u2

I have found a solution. The clue was in the /tmp/vmware-<user>/vmware-apploader-<pid>.log file:
2016-09-14T21:17:25.666Z| appLoader| W110: Unable to load libvmwareui.so.0 from /usr/lib/vmware-vmrc/5.5/lib/libvmwareui.so.0/libvmwareui.so.0: /usr/lib/vmware-vmrc/5.5/lib/libvmwareui.so.0/libvmwareui.so.0: undefined symbol: _ZN4Glib10spawn_syncERKSsRKNS_11ArrayHandleISsNS_17Container_Helpers10TypeTraitsISsEEEENS_10SpawnFlagsERKN4sigc4slotIvNSA_3nilESC_SC_SC_SC_SC_SC_EEPSsSG_Pi
After some Googling, I have found this page:
http://mihamina.rktmb.org/2015/12/vmware-workstation-12-unable-to-load.html
When I exported the VMWARE_USE_SHIPPED_LIBS=yes in the console and then executed Firefox from the same console, all started to work.

The link to the latest bundle was taken from this page:
https://kb.vmware.com/selfservice/microsites/search.do?language=en_US&cmd=displayKC&externalId=2145401
It looks like the CIP (Client Integration Plug-In) component is in the version 6.0.0 and the VMware Remote Console (VMRC) component is in the version 5.5.1. So it should be backward compatible with vSphere 5.5.
I tried to install version 5.5, 6.0 and 6.2 but neither of them works (the black window opens but no login prompt is visible, nor the keyboard/mouse is captured in the window). I'm running Firefox v47.0.1 (from extra/firefox 47.0.1-1) and Java plugin v1.8.0_102 (from extra/icedtea-web 1.6.2-2). Am I missing something?

Even more recent bundle:

ReNoM commented on 2016-06-09 06:38
Does this version of the bundle is backward compatible with version 5.5? If not, I think it would be better to make two separate packages for 5.5 and 6 versions.
