If you want to use the systemd service, you need to create a separate user:

useradd -m -r -s /usr/bin/nologin verdaccio
systemctl enable --now verdaccio

To make it run properly, you might need to adjust the default config to your needs:

/etc/verdaccio/config.yaml

It will be better to bundle the user for systemd service, like redis does: https://git.archlinux.org/svntogit/community.git/tree/trunk/redis.sysusers?h=packages/redis

It'd great if you could install the systemd unit (verdaccio.service) bundled with verdaccio.
