why do you use this ? and don't use this command : sudo grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/grub.cfg ?

Some Arch-based distros (i.e. Manjaro) already include this wrapper in their grub package, but Arch doesn't.

If you think it's redundant you can always fill deletion request.

How is it a package? Isn't it easier to just explain how to do that on the archwiki?

dreieck commented on 2021-02-08 11:32

@micwoj92: Maybe I got it because I use Artix (Arch Linux without systemd), and Artix' GRUB already contains /usr/bin/update-grub.

Oh I didn't install it that time, thought it's not fixed. But now I tried and saw no error. No idea how dreieck got that. Sorry for confusion.

I don't quite get it. Running pacman -Ql grub | grep update doesn't produce any results, and even installing both grub and update-grub doesn't have any conflicts for me. Am I missing something here?

Half year ago now, any update on this?

dreieck commented on 2020-06-30 10:46

Hm, it seems that it conflicts with up to date grub:

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
/usr/bin/update-grub exists in both 'grub' and 'update-grub'

maybe the package update-grub is deprecated?
