You will need the 0x4E2C6E8793298290 GPG key ("Tor Browser Developers (signing key) torbrowser@torproject.org") in your keychain:

gpg --keyserver hkps://keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 0xEF6E286DDA85EA2A4BA7DE684E2C6E8793298290

As of 8.5a11-2, this has the same locale-aware logic as the tor-browser AUR package.

If Tor Browser Bundle alpha is available for the locale configured on your system, makepkg will automatically use that, falling back to en_US otherwise. You may override this behavior by setting TORBROWSER_LANGUAGE; for example, to install the Farsi version of the TBB alpha:

TORBROWSER_PKGLANG='fa' makepkg

A copy of this PKGBUILD (+ etc) is located at https://github.com/mtigas/arch-aur-tor-browser-dev/

Please report any issues you encounter here in the comments, or over on that GitHub. Pull requests welcome.

reverted icon to proper dev channel icon in 9.0a1-2 ¯_(ツ)_/¯

yurikoles commented on 2019-05-22 22:23

@mtigas it seems like stable and dev use different icons, lol

Updated to TBB 9.0a1. https://blog.torproject.org/new-release-tor-browser-90a1

(Updated the icon. I don't have a lot of time to play with everything, but since I've switched to making the package locale-aware, I can't use the static path of tor-browser_en-US/.... Could probably pull out just the single file from the upstream tar.xz in the package step and use that. Don't have a lot of time right now, but will look into doing that later.)

The icon is updated again.
