Since 26 May 2017 Sublime Text 3 is available via the dedicated pacman repo provided by the author. From now on this is the recommended way to install ST3 on Arch Linux.

Package sublime-text-dev is replaced by repo 'stable'.
Package sublime-text-nightly is replaced by repo 'dev'.

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the ST packages. This is because the author switched names for branches. AUR packages available:

Sublime Text 3 Beta
- package: sublime-text-dev
- upstream:

Sublime Text 3 Dev (used to be called nightly)
- package: sublime-text-nightly
- upstream:
- NOTE: for registered users only

If you want the latest build install *sublime-text-nightly*. Note that you have to be licensed to use this!

Updated to ST3 beta by @sakaru's PKGBUILD (thanks).

I'll run some tests later and see what changes should be made (e.g. .desktop file is now provided).

sakaru commented on 2013-01-29 11:15

I've altered the PKGBUILD for ST3 and put it here:
I also changed the install path from /opt/sublime_text to /opt/sublime-text

Might want to update to
Or rename the packages (again).

@sender @bennylb0 - No such problem here, Xfce 4.10

sender commented on 2012-05-11 12:35

@bennylb0: I can't reproduce the problem and it seems that the desktop file is in line with the specs. If others also have this problem I'd like to hear about it. Thanks for the comment.

Hi there, thanks for providing nightly builds.

One thing I noticed is that the icon didn't appear until explicitly specifying path /usr/share/icons/hicolor/128x128/apps/sublime_text.png in the sublime_text.desktop file.

Not sure whether that's a permissions problem on my side but I thought I'd let you know.

NOTE on nightly, dev and stable build numbers: nightly builds always have the latest changes even though the build number on a dev can be larger. Note from the author of Sublime Text:

"The contents of 2188 and 2190 are the same, there aren't any new changes in the dev build that aren't in the nightly build."
