@Hori yes it is. Somebody needs to put in the work to port the code to newer Linux kernels.

The fact is, this driver is quite niche now. I have a fork, but I did not finish. I'm not a kernel developer, so I'm not the most familiar with these things...

Edit: The "out of date" flag is invalid, as this code is up to date regarding upstream. But upstream hasn't been updated since 2008...

It's still broken :(

It looks like this package (and driver) is currently quite broken

  • Seems that the upstream SVN is down? It may just be momentatry
  • Since some recent Linux kernel version (I'm digging, I think it's 5.0) timestamp are all 64 bit, that's easy to patch
  • Since Linux 4.18, the old interfaces this module use to implement the ioctl system call have been removed, code needs to be updated to use v4l2_ioctl_ops.

I wanted to see how Linux was working on a 10+ years old laptop, and Arch runs super good, but the webcam do not - I'm taking as a week-end project to fix this.

I'm doing so over on my GitHub...

If I achieve this in a working state, we can try to update this package by adding a pair of patches... Or by using the right branch on my GitHub mirror of the project.

I am quite new to Linux Kernel module development, but the changes seems easy enough to do... I will comment again here if I made this stupid old webcam driver work!

Hello, it don't work on Manjaro Linux, XFCE, Asus Notebook F5N, 64Bit. Best regards

Solution is ... reinstall linux-header
