@dkasak - at some point they were split officially out of the keras github repo, but were not separate at the time - I was maintaining them at the time since I needed the functionalities - @svenstaro took it into community but I don't know why he left python-keras.

I don't understand this comment. The packages python-keras-preprocessing and python-keras-applications do not depend on python-keras (from pacman's point of view). Why are they not made proper dependencies of python-keras instead of optdepends?

In fact, it's odd that these packages are official packages while python-keras is not. Does anyone know the history and/or rationale behind this?

For the python2-keras-{applications,preprocessing} uncomment the python2-keras makedepends if using python2 versions. See the comment in the PKGBUILDs .

Changed download link from https://github.com/fchollet/keras to https://github.com/keras-team/keras as per suggestion by @dack.

I do not remember why I chose the fchollet instead of the official branch. Thank you Dack for bringing this to my attention.

Why is the source https://github.com/fchollet/keras and not the official https://github.com/keras-team/keras? I checked the sha256sum of the latest release, and it is the same. It looks like fchollet is maybe one of the Keras devs, so I don't think it's anything malicious. However, it's pretty sketchy to use a URL that is different from the official repo link on their website.

I updated the preprocessing and applications pkgfiles, however left the python2-keras dependency out for now

@davidmcinnis - do you want me to make you a co-maintainer? also, possibly a minor error on line 22, cd "${_pkgname}-${pkgver}" should have a -py2 at the end

ex -c '22s/\"$/-py2\"/ | wq' PKGBUILD

edit

I have changed the PKGBUILD to reflect this already

Moved python-keras-preprocessing back into optdepends array. Added message that python-keras-preprocessing must be installed for python-keras to work.

ErkiDerLoony commented on 2018-07-30 13:03

Since python-keras depends on python-keras-preprocessing and the other way around I can build neither of them due to a cyclic dependency error.

dreieck commented on 2018-07-24 19:55

actually, import keras in python needs the packages python-keras-application and python-keras-preprocessing. You should add a dependency on them, or, if there is a good reason to not depend on them, add an optdepend with an explanatory text.

Thanks Dave, now it works.
