python-tensorflow>=2.2 should be a dependency (not only an optional dependency):

python -c 'import keras':

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "/usr/lib/python3.9/site-packages/keras/__init__.py", line 3, in <module>
    from tensorflow.keras.layers.experimental.preprocessing import RandomRotation
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named 'tensorflow'

During handling of the above exception, another exception occurred:

Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "<string>", line 1, in <module>
  File "/usr/lib/python3.9/site-packages/keras/__init__.py", line 5, in <module>
    raise ImportError(
ImportError: Keras requires TensorFlow 2.2 or higher. Install TensorFlow via `pip install tensorflow`

Thanks for maintaining!

change the version to 2.4.0 and remove all python2 stuff and everything will be fine.

nikisalli commented on 2020-09-23 12:14

please drop python2

ruestique commented on 2020-05-21 18:26

cleaned up all python2 stuff from PKGBUILD and all builds fine

@dkasak @ixil python-keras is getting deprecated soon. Currently, the official page requests people switch to tf.keras. Basically, Keras is no longer going to be multi backend and will be superseded by tf.keras in April 2020. Thus, there is no point in having it in official repos.

ixil commented on 2019-09-20 06:14

@dkasak - at some point they were split officially out of the keras github repo, but were not separate at the time - I was maintaining them at the time since I needed the functionalities - @svenstaro took it into community but I don't know why he left python-keras.

I don't understand this comment. The packages python-keras-preprocessing and python-keras-applications do not depend on python-keras (from pacman's point of view). Why are they not made proper dependencies of python-keras instead of optdepends?

In fact, it's odd that these packages are official packages while python-keras is not. Does anyone know the history and/or rationale behind this?

For the python2-keras-{applications,preprocessing} uncomment the python2-keras makedepends if using python2 versions. See the comment in the PKGBUILDs .

Changed download link from https://github.com/fchollet/keras to https://github.com/keras-team/keras as per suggestion by @dack.

I do not remember why I chose the fchollet instead of the official branch. Thank you Dack for bringing this to my attention.
