Note that 28.7.0 was signed with the lead dev's pgp key rather that the usual Linux dev's key. You'll need to import the new key into your keyring before the pgp check will be able to verify the tarball: gpg --keyserver=keyserver.ubuntu.com --recv-keys 8FCF9CEC

The source seems to be located at http://linux.palemoon.org/$pkgver/palemoon-$pkgver.en-US.linux-$(uname -r).tar.bz2 now (note the disappearance of the `files' subdirectory).

Oops...
The SHA-1 checksum in PKBBUILD does not match the one at http://linux.palemoon.org/download/atom/

Over at Manjaro we've already done option 2.
i.e.
http://manjaro.mirror.serversaustralia.com.au/stable/community/i686/palemoon-bin-25.7.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz
http://manjaro.mirror.serversaustralia.com.au/stable/community/i686/palemoon-atom-bin-25.7.3-1-i686.pkg.tar.xz

Certainly i'd encourage Arch to do the same.

I was talking with the people in Freenode #palemoon earlier today, and it seems they're not happy with how these precompiled binaries are being hotlinked from their server. I don't think they're going to do anything _right now_ to prevent this, but it's worth noting that the similar precompiled binaries for FossaMail (the Thunderbird fork by the same development team) are only available for download from FossHub, which generates per-download unique links (unsuitable for use in a PKGBUILD) - which will be part of the reason we don't currently have a FossaMail entry in the AUR...

Perhaps it might be a good idea to either
1) have someone mirror these somewhere, as long as they're unaltered that's fine (doing it for FossaMail would be cool too, hint hint ;) )
2) convince a TU to get palemoon into the official repos, presumably [community]

What do you guys think?

25.7.1 should be available: http://linux.palemoon.org/download/mainline/

Using single quotes for creating a variable that contains another variable doesn't work.

Change:
provides=('palemoon=$pkgver')
to:
provides=("palemoon=$pkgver")

Wrong:
pacman -Qi palemoon-bin
...
Provides : palemoon=$pkgver
...

Right:
pacman -Qi palemoon-bin
...
Provides : palemoon=25.7.0
...

Depending on your system it makes either the 32 or 64-bit version.

CompletelyGalen commented on 2015-05-18 08:11

Is this the 64bit version?
