Here are some details from NixOS that may be helpful: https://github.com/NixOS/nixpkgs/pull/114322

Hey there, Shida here from Obsidian. Please use app.asar instead of obsidian.asar, as obsidian.asar ran directly results in a dev build of the app that doesn't function properly, which causes confusion for users who wonder why they are unable to use Obsidian Sync or Obsidian Publish.

Also please don't directly use the insider build that isn't publicly released yet. The insider builds aren't licensed for public use until we make them an official release - they are only available for holders of the catalyst license.

Thank you!

@gmy Nice, that was fast! Thanks.

I've adopted the package, bumped version to 0.11.9 and added the icon.

@xuanwo I see. They do provide an icon in their Flatpak build and the source is available here: https://github.com/flathub/md.obsidian.Obsidian

Would you consider adding it since it's an official package made by Obsidian as well?

@KucharczykL Officially, only the asar file is provided, not the corresponding icon package, so we don't provides the icons.

KucharczykL commented on 2021-03-10 19:32

Is there a reason why there is no icon?

Thank @Luke_zhang04 for advice, the executable file has been added!

And the package also bumps to the latest insider build, wish you a happy life!

Can you add an executable file that just runs /usr/bin/electron /opt/obsidian-insider/obsidian.asar %u --no-sandbox %? It just makes life a bit easier. Thanks for this package.
