Removal request for obs-studio-wayland: https://lists.archlinux.org/pipermail/aur-requests/2021-April/051104.html

Probably the best thing I can do now is to move dependency to obs-studio>=27. I'll do this when I'm in front of a computer, unless someone has another idea.

Does anyone know why it was removed? I haven't spent too much time trying to figure out why, but obs-git does not seem to actually be working with XDG portal and this plug-in won't build with obs-git.

Hey there! Nice work on the portal and package, dude! Just wanted to remind you obs-studio-wayland was removed from the repos :)

this package doesn't let me record the screen. it doesn't work.

the only way to be able to record is by using this: flatpak install --user flathub com.obsproject.Studio

(at least in my case)

My bad. I thought there might be a manual way to add alternatives. Yes, that would work but I also don't mind if you keep obs-studio-wayland until the next obs-studio release so you don't get annoyed by people not reading the pinned message.

If I set it to depends on obs-studio-git, users of obs-studio and obs-studio-wayland won't be able to use this package without editing the PKGBUILD. Similar situation if I keep obs-studio-wayland.

How about I set it to obs-studio (provided by both 'obs-studio-git' and 'obs-studio-wayland'), and pin a message telling to use either one of these two packages?

Would it be possible to add obs-studio-git as alternative dependency or is there something still missing?

The latest pipewire update (0.3.15) fixed the "black screen upon sharing application" bug. Small note: I have to disable the cursor capturing, because otherwise it's 3 times as big on screen.

(Also: capturing a game cuts the framerate in half. Disabling vsync even almost grinds the entire computer to a halt for some reason...)

Installation works for me, and as long as OBS itself is running in wayland (start it with QT_QPA_PLATFORM=wayland obs), OBS finds and enables it. But when actually trying to use the plugin, it gets a black screen and can't even select sources. In stdout from OBS:

info: OBS XDG initialized (sender name: 1_2327)
info: User added source 'Desktop Capture (X11 / Wayland)' (obs-xdg-source) to scene 'Wayland Screenshare with video'
warning: [OBS XDG] Failed to create session, denied or cancelled by user
qt.qpa.wayland: Ignoring unexpected wl_surface.enter received for output with id: 20 screen name: "DP-9" screen model: "C34H89x" This is most likely a bug in the compositor.

This is pretty clearly an issue in the plugin itself. I note a few recent Issues in their queue that it's stopped working... https://gitlab.gnome.org/feaneron/obs-xdg-portal/-/issues
