I think you should considering to put this module on extramodules. On recent changes, the minor kernel update changes the modules folder, forcing us to rebuild the module on every update. Putting this modules on extramodules we only to rebuild this package on the major update.

Hi, so I have a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ4000 and am running the closed-source NVIDIA drivers. Your package has been the only thing to give me control over my backlight, but it's always been buggy for me.

The backlight will reset to maximum brightness whenever I load a webpage with Flash, press keyboard keys after being idle for some period of time, or open new windows (some of the time). Pressing the backlight control buttons after it resets to maximum brightness will set the blacklight to the previous dimming level, plus or minus the change in brightness. Notably, it does not change from maximum brightness if the previous brightness was 0 and I try to lower the backlight.

The standard solution to issues with this seems to be to echo a new value into /sys/class/brightness/nvidia_backlight/brightness, but even as root I do not have permissions to do this (file is listed as -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4096 Nov 12 09:09) (that's probably the day I last rebooted). The number in this file corresponds to the brightness at any time.

Anyway, thanks for writing and maintaining this package; I'd be blind without it!

this one works perfectly on my Sony Vaio S! I couldn't get the full brightness with the old nvidia_bl module. thanks!

This seems to be the activly maintaned version of the nvidia backlight module. Compared to nvidia_bl (https://aur.archlinux.org/packages.php?ID=25467) the scaling seems to work better.
