Too bad that there’s an AUR package called mps too..

As of version 0.18.41 (2014-02-13) 'pms' is now 'mps', to resolve the nameclash.

You can successfully use mpv{-git} with pms{-git} by altering the dependancy in the PKGBUILD --as you'd done-- then within pms itself do the following;

set player mpv
set playerargs --really-quiet --no-video

Currently using this, and it appears to honour things like volume control (9-0), etcetera.

I've found a hack. It is very simple and works. Open up the 'pms' file in your favorite editor and go to line 713.

Change the code to this:

else:
original_term = term
url = "http://pleer.com/search?q=%s&target=tracks&page=%s"
# if "+best" in term:
term = term.replace("+best", "")
url += "&quality=best"

You will need to remove some blank lines or it will not work. Now 320k is your default with no extra arguments

pms with mpv isn't working out as hoped. It can play songs with mpv, but doesn't wrap it.

You have to change "README.me" to "README.rst": https://github.com/np1/pms/commit/9f4c25bb4fb9edf096bf3fa696bde7548970710f

Currently using mpv instead of mplayer with this. Thanks for finding out if this works :) To do this:
1) Change the PKGBUILD mplayer depend to mpv
2) In pms (I edited /usr/bin/pms after install):
Change line 65 to PLAYER = "mpv"
Change line 66 to PLAYERARGS = ""

I still have to play around with different args. I've added --no-config, as my config has mostly video options. --no-cache might help, though I haven't found it to do so. One song caused mpv to open another window, which --no-video should stop.

If you change this line:

install -D -m755 pms "$pkgdir/usr/bin/pms"

to this:

install -D -m755 pms.py "$pkgdir/usr/bin/pms"

It should work..
