Saw this in AppRun inside the package

# Check whether dependencies are present in base system (we do not bundle these)

check_dep desktop-file-validate
check_dep update-desktop-database
check_dep desktop-file-install
check_dep xdg-icon-resource
check_dep xdg-mime
check_dep xdg-desktop-menu

Hope this helps

Yep, French too, and computers are on the same local network (Orange FTTH). Here is the package list.
desktop (working): http://pastebin.com/N3VK2pSZ
laptop (not working): http://pastebin.com/1V8T9Agv
I'll try to contact them yeah.

No, I don't have any other deps related idea :( Maybe you should try to contact directly molotov to see if they can help you. They may refuse to answer to you as we don't use ubuntu, but this package does nothing more than putting the appimage somewhere on your harddrive. Thus if this appimage is broken for you, imho it's broken for a lot of other potential users, even on ubuntu (kubuntu, lubuntu...).

@milouse : I'm in france. So it's not geographical restrictions.

I will check my network settings.

Any update with missing deps that I can try this weekend?

Are you both of you using ipv6 connection or ipv4 ones ? I don't know if it's related, but as Moloto use massively web content, the absence of interface may come from a network outage due to some specificity ? I think about that as it can explain the behavior you encounter @ma2t (unless you try to run the app inside the same local network).

Last thing: we speak english here... but are you both in France ? Because if you are in another country, it can be due to some location restriction.

@ma2t can you provide the list of packages installed on your desktop and laptop?

With that we maybe can find the missing dependency with comparing

I am using X.

Same thing using ./Molotov-0.9.5.AppImage and XDG_DATA_DIRS=$HOME/.local/share:/usr/share ./Molotov-0.9.5.AppImage

Hi. Following my last message, molotov now works on my desktop (I have no idea why), but still does the same on my laptop, like Tommy.
The weird thing is that I have the *exact* same packages installed on the 2 computers, except video drivers (nvidia / intel). Maybe it's related to this?
Edit: I've extracted the AppImage, there is no dependancies list inside.

Oh, and: do you use wayland or X ? If you use wayland, could you check if you have xwailand installed ?

milouse commented on 2016-10-01 09:55

Ok, let's try another stupid test (in order to let me know if I broke something during packing or if it's some upstream bug).

Can you, as a simple user, copy the following file somewhere in your home /opt/appimages/Molotov-0.9.5.AppImage ? Then just do a ./Molotov-0.9.5.AppImage and tell me what happen.

If you have the message « $XDG_DATA_DIRS is missing. » try again with the following command : XDG_DATA_DIRS=$HOME/.local/share:/usr/share ./Molotov-0.9.5.AppImage

And report to me what you see. Thanks.
