I've just completed a successful build myself:

==> Finished making: linux-git 5.4.r5280.g89d57dddd7d3-1 (Wed Nov 27 19:50:30 2019)

I just got this:

DEPMOD 5.4.0-1-git-05280-g89d57dddd7d3

rm: cannot remove '/home/gun/builds/linux-git/pkg/linux-git/usr/lib/modules/5.4.0-1-git-gaf42d3466bdc+/source': No such file or directory

rm: cannot remove '/home/gun/builds/linux-git/pkg/linux-git/usr/lib/modules/5.4.0-1-git-gaf42d3466bdc+/build': No such file or directory

==> ERROR: A failure occurred in package_linux-git().

Edit: Clearing the src and pkg subdirectories led to a successful build. I should have remembered to try that sooner.

It seems some files are being missed in the headers copy

./include/linux/leds.h:11:10: fatal error: dt-bindings/leds/common.h: No such file or directory
   11 | #include <dt-bindings/leds/common.h>
      |          ^~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
compilation terminated.

I get this while trying to compile xpad-dlms and a new logitech hid driver.

I am getting

error: failed to commit transaction (conflicting files)
/usr/lib/modules/5.2.0-ga3b22b9f11d9/build/Documentation/Kconfig exists in both 'linux-git-docs' and 'linux-git-headers'

With the built packages.

This patch fixes it by removing the duplicate file but I am not sure if it's the correct way to do it:

I just realized the PKGBUILD is right. It's the uname version that's being reported wrong. Just updated today.

[parker@stealth ~]$ pacman -Q linux-git
linux-git 5.2rc5.r239.g241e39004581-1
[parker@stealth ~]$ uname -a
Linux stealth 5.2.0-rc5-g29f785ff76b6 #2 SMP PREEMPT Thu Jun 20 13:49:19 EDT 2019 x86_64 GNU/Linux

Why does a fresh build of this also report ga3b22b9f11d9?

The PKGBUILD is 5.0rc7 and the same commit hash

Those of you requesting checkout of the src not a git clone, I urge you to make noise about instead of bugging this poor maintainer it should be solved systemwide not on a per package basis

b1tninja commented on 2019-02-25 21:06

I think a lot of people use this as a base to do custom kernel builds (different configs)... would you consider adding either conditionals to the cp includes or adding a || : to suppress errors, or maybe something like.

cd $srcdir/$pkgname; cp -a include/*/.h --parents -t $builddir/maybe/usr/lib/

I used the make localmodconfig to generate a config, and it does not have any dvb etc includes and dies during package()

Could you change line 62 from

make olddefconfig

yes '' | make olddefconfig

so that i can automate building this package
