...until that happens, which may take who knows how long, I decided to publish 1.8.1 PKGBUILD with a patch for apps/CMakeLists.txt.

Alright! Thanks a bunch. Let's hope they'll release a fixed source code package soon.

Obviously the best way is to get this fixed by fixing the code, I was just giving a easy fix which gets you the same end result for now ;-)

Anyway, you're on the right track it seems. The minimal cmake version they're targeting is 2.6.0, so we might need to add some extra fixes for lower cmake versions as well. I'll see if I have some time later this week to come up with a proper fix for the pthread issue.

FYI, few days ago I suggested a solution to the problem in, inspired by

I'd rather avoid workarounds if the issue can be easily fixed upstream.

If anybody knows there's something wrong with apps/CMakeLists.txt modification I proposed please let me know. I'll be glad to learn from you.

Add export LDFLAGS="${LDFLAGS} -pthread" before the cmake command for 1.8.1 to compile.

Thanks for the heads up, and for reporting the issue upstream. If you need just the library and can live without the apps, set `-DWITH_UTILITIES:BOOL' to `FALSE' in the PKGBUILD. I'll wait for the upstream fix. The package will have to stay flagged out-of-date until then.

Adopted. Thanks for maintaining it so far, Michael. I'll upload a fix in the coming days.

I can take care of laszip too (as they go together with liblas), if you wish.

czk, thanks for the offer.

Please do feel free to adopt this. I just submitted it because I needed to use Grass GIS at the time. I don't really use GIS all that much any more.

Sorry for the delay. I didn't see the earlier comments.
