I have created a short guide on how to install KDE1 here: https://gist.github.com/z3ntu/66eb01704d3d04464da8bc299a83add8

I compiled it as per the guide on github (installing qt1, kde1-kdelibs, kde1-kdebase, etc) but it doesn't work right (none of the programs launch except for display settings) I looked further into it and apparently KFM is segfaulting on startup, and since the whole DE apparently relies on KFM, that makes it useless. does anyone have any idea on how to fix this? I really want KDE1 on my system,

@sl1pkn07 You'd have to port the modules first, these modules don't have a cmake build system yet.

KDE 1 Desktop starts, but no program starts (Virtualbox).

@Chazza: Sorry for the late response, but I just fixed the problem in 1.1.2-5.

@z3ntu I tried rebuilding qt1 and kde1-kdebase but the latter build failed with the same error as before. Only by disabling compilation of kikbd can I get kde1-kdebase to build successfully. It's really weird though. Doing pacman -Ql qt1 shows that the .moc files are provided. I can verify that they're all in /opt/qt1 with find. So something odd is happening here. I haven't got time to look into this myself properly but I thought I'd put this up in case anyone else has the same problem.

For reference, here is the build error: https://pastebin.com/9MHJtuTz

@Chazza: Can you try rebuilding qt1 and then rebuilding kde1-kdebase without the patch? That way it worked for me. Will try the rest in a few days in a vm probably.

Just tried this and it works amazingly but there's a couple of things I found.

1) I wasn't able to build the kikbd module. It said it couldn't find widgets.moc which is very strange as qt1 is definitely providing it. So I had to disable compilation of that module: https://pastebin.com/kYcinvMH

2) I had to reorder startkde to get this to not crash on startup. Starting kwm last makes the entire desktop crash, I don't know why. I made it start before krootwm and made the session hang on kbgndwm instead. This got it to startup successfully but breaks the logout button which seems to just rely on killing kwm to end the session.

Can anyone else confirm these issues?

Update: Now you need to create /opt/kde1/share/apps/kdisknav

if you don't, it won't start. I tested it in a VM this morning and if you start kwm first then startkde you see the error:
