Hi mazurm, Thanks for the message. I didn't notice that the source files were renamed on the server. I have updated the PKGBUILD and the JabRef beta (JabRef 5.0-beta.1--2019-12-13--0a9d281) is working for me.

Hi J0hannes,

I am trying to set up Jabref and I think the package requires some update. If I download and try to build it now, I get the following error. => ERROR: pkgver is not allowed to be empty. ==> ERROR: pkgver() generated an invalid version:

Comparing to the git repo, the file has an updated name. Currently in PKGBUILD pkgver() { curl --silent --head head https://builds.jabref.org/master/JabRef-portable_linux.tar.gz \ | grep "Last-Modified" | cut -d' ' -f2- | date -f - +%Y%m%d }

returns nothing. However, if the packaged is changed to "JabRef-5.0-portable_linux.tar.gz", a proper time string is returned. So the source code files should probably be updated accordingly.

Thanks!

Thanks for letting me know. I've updated the PKGBUILD accordingly.

Some files need to be executable:

./lib/runtime/bin/*
./lib/runtime/lib/jexec
./lib/runtime/lib/jspawnhelper

Otherwise some features are missing, see 5632 for example.

The package uses https://builds.jabref.org/master/JabRef-portable_linux.tar.gz as source now.

There was a change to Jabref that renders the jar file essentially useles. I wasn't aware of that change until recently, and there's no working solution available yet. The Jabref developers plan to provide a nightly release (like the jar file up to now) in a different format (e.g. deb packages). Once that is running, I will update the PKGBUILD.

Hi deisi,

Jabref has shifted from Java 8 to Java 11 a couple of days ago. I'm still testing the new version with java11-openjfx instead of java8-openjfx. Once I can confirm that everything's working, I will release a new PKGBUILD.

Can't get this to run on my machine what I get

Error: A JNI error has occurred, please check your installation and try again Exception in thread "main" java.lang.UnsupportedClassVersionError: org/jabref/JabRefLauncher has been compiled by a more recent version of the Java Runtime (class file version 55.0), this version of the Java Runtime only recognizes class file versions up to 52.0

Thanks! I'll keep that in mind.
