I'm getting the same problem as @dano5.

Is there some solution to this? I don't quite understand the problem and would rather not need to copy the files each time.

install fails due to missing 2 files in src folder:

"/guake-git/src/guake/guake/data/guake.desktop"
"/guake-git/src/guake/guake/data/guake-prefs.desktop"

manually copied those from previous install into the folder and install completed

It fails with:

Error opening directory “/home/mateusz/.cache/yay/guake-git/pkg/guake-git/usr/local/share/glib-2.0/schemas”: No such file or directory
make: *** [Makefile:134: compile-shemas] Error 1
make: *** Waiting for unfinished jobs....

wont build with current PKGBUILD -

however community repository PKGBUILD works with current git commit.
