This information is in the .install, but I'm going to sticky it here.

For Chromecast functionality:

1) Verify avahi and nss-mdns are installed.

2) Append "mdns4" to the end of the "hosts" line in /etc/nsswitch.conf.

3) Enable and start both avahi-daemon.service and avahi-daemon.socket.

If this still doesn't work, check your hosts line in /etc/nsswitch.conf. Mine looked like the following:

hosts: files mymachines resolve [!UNAVAIL=return] dns myhostname mdns4

So I changed it to the following:

hosts: files mymachines resolve dns myhostname mdns4

This fixed the problem for me.

That artefact is gone now so there's no work around to make this work any more.

Dear @BrianAllred

Since maintainer of GPMDP is not able to release a tagged version that fixes SIGSEGV for months I kindly ask you to update the PKGBUILD to contain working (untagged) version as suggested by Celti in comments here on AUR.

Thank you

@Celti Can confirm that fixed it. This package should be updated. It has been broken for months.

@Celti - This took care of it for me as well. Thank you!

@Celti
That fixed my library hang. Thank you.

To bypass the current segfault issue and the media library hang, use the following source and md5sum:

md5sums=('85675d8b409a75223839fe5f7a6ecc49'
        'b776561dd313eb1ded6356247cfffa89')

source=("https://3667-40008106-gh.circle-artifacts.com/0/home/circleci/project/dist/installers/debian/google-play-music-desktop-player_4.6.1_amd64.
deb"
        "gpmdp.desktop")

The app crashes with a segfault

Seems to be broken causing a segfault, and it hangs on "loading music library ..." when using the different source that @dampkwab menitoned.

Thanks dampkwab, that works.

md5sum for the .deb you linked is c737e4b70f608381b6b54baa83d03b97
