Setting up font rendering through environment variable was in any case a bad idea; there is fontconfig for this: (hinting=fintfull) + (autohint=false) must be v35 anyway... but someone decided that it should not work without a dubious crutch.

There are unfortunately other situations where the environment variable isn't preserved. For example things started by systemd, like desktop notifications. See: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/gnome-terminal/+bug/1772557

sudo also doesn't preserve it by default, though it can be changed: https://superuser.com/questions/232231/how-do-i-make-sudo-preserve-my-environment-variables

This package on the other hand works like a charm so I'm still using it.

I don't think there is any, feel free to file a deletion request.

Are there other usecases since the Chromium issue is resolved? Else it could get removed from aurweb?

Yes you are right. Thanks anyway for this package.

Looks like Chromium honors FREETYPE_PROPERTIES now. [1,2] Orphaning.

Fonts in Chromium are blurred again. Only on my system?

streetwalrus commented on 2017-02-15 16:31

This one only has the v35 engine to bypass customization. I use it with Chromium which doesn't pass environment variables through to the sandbox.

Scimmia commented on 2017-02-15 16:27

The package in Extra already has this engine, what's the point of this package?

Thank you so much for this!
