@amoka, that's exactly what I've said. For everyone who will face such issue:

Edit "provides" line in the PKGBUILD to fix this.

amoka commented on 2020-08-06 20:06

@Hanabishi Seems like Pamac (Manjaro) limitation to me. The provides=('') in this package is the same as the official freetype2 PKGBUILD in extra. Building this package with makepkg should provide the correct version, and then, as you know will be able install it with pacman. freetype2 must be removed because it's in conflict with this. Feel free to modify PKGBUILD locally with your desired provides and install it (if Pamac allows this).

@Hanabishi what troubles?

Hanabishi commented on 2020-08-06 10:38

There are some troubles with fact that the package provides instead of original Edit "provides" line in the PKGBUILD to fix this.

Builds and runs perfectly on aarch64 :-)

arch=('x86_64' 'aarch64')

It looks slightly better than upstream freetype2. Thanks.

If you manually download the .tar.bz2 and .tar.bz2.sig from sourceforge you can change line 27 of PKGBUILD to source=(freetype-${pkgver}.tar.bz2{,.sig} and it will build. (I had to skip PGP check, though.)

I get the same host resolution issue as @Kabir. I was able to download it at

What's the correct lib32-freetype2-? aur to install alongside this, to prevent different rendering between 32bit and 64bit programs? My primary concern here was Steam.
