@tilt @all, you can now use "export FIREFOX_ESR_BIN_PREFER_OLDER=true" on the command line to activate the switch for the Firefox-ESR v68.x update channel. Let me know if you experience any issues with this switch.

The current release of Firefox-ESR is a major update from version 68.9 to 78.0. Does anyone require/want the release version 68.10? Then I will need to add a switch again.

@Gharial this is the binary version of firefox-esr.

Hey!! Could you use enable-alsa flag in your build? Alsa is supported by default in stable builds as of version 75.0.

Hi @tilt, thanks for the comment. I've fixed the providers issue. Completelly overlooked this one when updating.

In terms of your request about disabling automatic updates: I will consider to add a switch to enable/disable automatic updates.

Hi @runaz, since firefox 68 there's no way to disable automatic updates checks, unless using a policies.json located in installation folder: would you consider to add this file into the aur package? Update checks are fairly bothering: a popup appears in the upper right of the window, and even if you dismiss it, it reappears after few minutes (or when you restart, can't remember).

If you need more details about policies.json:

Moreover, the PKGBUILD should report provides=('firefox=68') am I right?

Thanks in advance, bye bye!

@basil, it is no problem on your side. I forgot to update the sha512 sums of the *.desktop files. The upgrade should work now!

I'm trying to update this package, but the validity check fails:

==> Validating source files with sha512sums...
    firefox-60.8.0esr.tar.bz2 ... Passed
    firefox-esr.desktop ... FAILED
    firefox-esr-safe.desktop ... FAILED
==> ERROR: One or more files did not pass the validity check!

Is this a problem on my side?

@hentaku, I have updated the .desktop files. Let me know if it now works for you.

Please do not flag this package out of date if it is clearly up to date @TheGoliath

Hello, I'm using this package on KDE Plasma, however Firefox ESR doesn't show in the "default applications" menu, after digging for a bit, I think adding "WebBrowser" at the line for Categories of the .desktop files fixes it, please consider add this in future update, thanks
