I'm having the same problem as @sawa9693: the Helvetica font on all Chromium-based browsers seems to render as the Helvetica condensed font. On the KDE font list, I can clearly see it looks like the condensed one is the default Helvetica:

Find something strange. This package affact another AUR packages: google-chrome 74.0.3729.169-1. Part of the font of web page (e.g. Github, Facebook) will force render to Helvetica Bold. Any ideas?

you could put those in .config/gimp/fonts/

Thank you for fixing this! It bugged me for a long time :)

I'm disowning this because I don't use it any more and don't have time to respond to queries about it. Hopefully someone else may step in...?

Please remove pkgver() section. It causes version mismatch between AUR and local installation. I don't know what is the purpose for it.

I've resurrected an old package, ephifonts-no-helvetica, for those that want to use Futura and Gotham fonts but also want a pleasant browsing experience on Chrome etc.

Helvetica is actually Impact (the font typically used in memes), and messes up anything that tries to use Helvetica. Such as certain sites such as Facebook on Chromium.

The "Helvetica" font isn't Helvetica.

starfry commented on 2018-04-16 10:09

I've just pushed a new version of the package because some fonts were missing. I added the following:

helvetica-condensed helvetica-neue helvetica

futura-lt futura-lt-oblique futura-lt-light futura-lt-light-oblique futura-lt-heavy futura-lt-heavy-oblique futura-lt-extra-bold futura-lt-extra-bold-oblique futura-lt-condensed

Thanks to Markus Schanz for bringing this issue to my attention.
