Not sure.
I could not get it to be fully working, and as twa022 pointed, probably the best way from now on is to stick with the cinnamon from [community].

Don't know what is the AUR's policy in this case.
Theoretically, even after deleting the pkg, its PKGBUILD/tar.gz is still accessible by the URL, so one could still get it to not start from scratch again.

Is there a real interest in keeping this package? Do people depend on it?

twa022 commented on 2014-06-06 05:57

I imagine with Linux Mint's new release policy (following Ubuntu LTS), it's going to be harder to maintain the Cinnamon environment in Arch.
I disowned all the -git packages if anyone else feels like they can keep up with patching against upstream and wants to adopt them.

If someones wants to test:

https://github.com/gbc921/aur/tree/master/working/cinnamon-git

Not sure if it's working. Just compiled for me.

Thanks

@lots0logs: Did you get some news?
I saw your issue on cinnamon github, but didn't found a conclusion. Same problem here.
Thanks,

lots0logs commented on 2014-04-15 13:24

Some of the patches fail to apply because they may have been implemented upstream. However that's not the only problem, it still fails with the patches removed from the PKGBUILD. I will try to investigate further and report back..

Sure enough.. in the arch stable package there is an additional polkit rule.. please add this for now to build:
/usr/share/polkit-1/actions/
org.archlinux.pkexec.cinnamon-settings-users.policy

malinas commented on 2014-01-13 06:45

Getting issues now with this with polkit. cinnamon-git is bouncing between polkit gnome and not or?

Anywho.. stable works, so anyone know what to do?

oso96_2000 is right. It should be webkitgtk, not webkitgtk3.
