To get hardware acceleration working, you also have to install https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/libva-vdpau-driver-chromium

Disclaimer : VP8/9 video decoding will not work!

GeForce GTX 750 SE and after support HEVC and VP9 video decoding but VDPAU,the only VAAPI backend available for Nvidia users with libva-vdpau-driver, doesn't support VP8/9.

Mr. maximbaz, Please, could you add

'use_jumbo_build=false'

to the _flags list?

https://chromium.googlesource.com/chromium/src/+/70.0.3538.107/docs/jumbo.md

We would be able to switch it if we had enough memory for that type of build.

Don't know clap22, my build finished overnight successfully...

Latest update is failing to build for me:

@maximbaz Done, thanks!

maximbaz commented on 2018-11-13 23:29

Done, but maybe edit the first line of that comment to "NOTE: VP9 decoding does not work on Nvidia cards", for those who are out of context :)

Terence commented on 2018-11-13 23:24

Well, no perfect solution but at least there are multiple ways to solve this... Right now I'm using the 3rd solution and it's really not bad: I made a profile so that it selects the best video/audio options for my monitor and made it always on top on the bottom right of the screen.

Maybe you could pin my comment; I think it could be useful for other nvidia users.

maximbaz commented on 2018-11-13 23:20

Thanks for sharing, so in summary there are no good solutions :(

Solved by adding allow_rgb10_configs=false to /etc/environment and REBOOT .. it didn't work for me when exporting it in the session.

maximbaz commented on 2018-11-01 09:44

srebre: this package is not out of date, it is expected that you will compile it yourself against the latest dependencies. If you want a pre-built version, use chromium-vaapi-bin.
