chromium-vaapi is currently having problems with intel. You can follow developments here. For now, I have rolled back to the previous version, I suggest you do the same, until this issue is resolved.

Please add this gpg key to install this package

gpg --recv-keys EB4F9E5A60D32232BB52150C12C87A28FEAC6B20

You can also add keyserver-options auto-key-retrieve to your ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf file.

If you have problems connecting to a Chromecast, just enable the following flag:

and restart Chromium.

Thanks to maximbaz for providing pre-compiled binaries, and thanks to niklaszantner for the tip about Chromecast.

With the new release 75.0.3770.100 vaapi is now working properly for me with AMD GPU, previous release of 75 it did not and only VP9 would play on YouTube once I disabled h264ify. Might have been broken on the previous release of 75 due to the Intel iGPU in my system as well but I don't have any other systems with just an AMD GPU to test in. Either way it's working again so I'm happy.

No videos play at all now with Intel Hd graphics 620. Not even with h264ify extension. At least with last update I could play everything besides Vp9 and now nothing. As far as my comment the other day for some reason when updating to new version pacman removed chromium-vaap-bin and installed chromium-vaapi instead but I have since then fixed that but now I have no videos that are capable of playing. I have intel-media-driver correctly installed and vainfo command telling me so besides there has been no changes in my driver since all the videos were playing. So I guess it is time to remove chromium vaapi all together.

@freefreeno what is the output of pamac-aur? You can also try makepkg -si inside the folder where it was downloaded.

@erenseymen added pipewire as a dependency. Thanks for pointing it out. Tesekkurler.

chromium-vaapi is not only having problems with Intel; it's also having problems with NVIDIA. It seems that only users using AMD hardware are unaffected ATM.

erenseymen commented on 2019-06-23 09:54

There is a missing dependency. When I try to open chromium, I get this error. "/usr/lib/chromium/chromium: error while loading shared libraries: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory" I've installed pipewire and now it opens. Pipewire should be a dependency to this package.

Pamac-aur will not install this for some reason and when go to the folder where it was download and run: sudo pacman -U chromium-vaapi-75.0.3770.90-3-x86_64.pkg.tar.xz

I am seeing this for some reason: chromium-vaapi and chromium-vaapi-bin are in conflict (chromium). Remove chromium-vaapi-bin? [y/N]

It installs fine this way though. Pamac will not do it.

Since I keep getting complaints about not updating even though I have stickied a comment explaining why, I will update to the latest version tomorrow morning. People can skip this update or roll back if they have any problems.
