I build this out of desperation since 85 continuously crashes on my tablet and chromium/chrome is the only browser with working touch support on Wayland. Took me ~7 hours on an old Xeon E5-2630v2 with 32GB RAM. But it works... \0/

I just built chromium-dev-ozone (Chromium 87.0.4252.0 Manjaro Linux, kernel 5.8.6). It built fine but I cannot start chromium. Without any command-line arguments it immediately exits with

[151171:151171:0911/] Unable to open X display.

If I try to start it with

chromium --ozone-platform=wayland --enable-features=UseOzonePlatform

I get a never-ending readout of errors on the terminal and the GUI never starts. Am I doing something wrong here?

The build fails without python2-xcb-proto it should probably be a dependency.

could you or someone else please provide instructions on how to set up to build this (if that's possible)? how do you personally build it? it takes more than 6 hours on my laptop :(

This package follows the dev channel release, which you can check here:

Yes you're right, the dev channel has been upgraded to 84.

how do i check if it's out of date or not?

treeshateorcs commented on 2020-04-17 21:40

is it not out of date? i see it was updated just today, but i also see that google chrome 84.0.4115.5 also came out today

@TwainDee thanks - I did some experimentation and found that pytyhon2-setuptools is required (So I've added a makedepend), but it compiles fine for me without python2-protobuf.
