linux 4.12 patch: https://pastebin.com/HBwYYhGz

@herycp it fortunately falls back to xorg when wayland fails to load, so there is no intervention necessary

herycp commented on 2017-07-28 18:12

dont forget gdm now use wayland by defauld so use xorg dont wayland if u want use gdm (read wiki for detail)

@R4v3nPr0 For me it seems that GDM just needs a very up-to-date version of mutter.
I’m successfully using GNOME+GDM with catalyst-test, cogl from the catalyst-stable repo, xorg117 and https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/mutter-catalyst/

Maybe Vi0L0 can update the mutter package in catalyst-stable.

@quicken2k

In addition to installing Xorg 1.14, did you do anything else to make the GNOME desktop environment and GDM work?

quicken2k commented on 2017-07-18 17:46

I have just begun playing around with it though. Let you know how it goes.

quicken2k commented on 2017-07-18 17:44

I got it working! (With GDM) using xorg 1.14

pacman.conf

[xorg114]
Server = http://mirror.hactar.xyz/Vi0L0/xorg114/$arch

[catalyst]
Server = http://mirror.hactar.xyz/Vi0L0/catalyst/$arch

fglrxinfo:

display: :1 screen: 0
OpenGL vendor string: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
OpenGL renderer string: AMD Radeon HD 7000 series
OpenGL version string: 4.5.13416 Compatibility Profile Context 15.302

Thanks for all your help.

I was having problems with gdm for a long time, it would be best to switch to other desktop manager.
As for a gnome it should work with my patched packages - cogl, mutter and imagemagick-nocl. There are not on the aur, only the repo (catalyst repo, you will find it on wiki) , but if you want sources I can give u them.

Thanks for the help.

One last thing though I can't seem to use catalyst-test with gnome. Xorg segfaults and GDM won't show up. Any ideas on how I can use Gnome with catslyst?.

you mean mesa-noglvnd, right? you can edit ~/.gnupg/gpg.conf
and add line:
keyserver-options auto-key-retrieve

my file also has:
utf8-strings
keyserver hkp://keys.gnupg.net

or you can build mesa-noglvnd with makepkg and it's --skippgpcheck option
