Extracting the .deb files with bsdtar would be much more efficient than using deb2targz. You would then have the data.tar.* file that was inside the .deb to extract.

renamed the build() function to package(). Thanks jamesan, I didn`t realize.

The build() function needs to be renamed to package() as PKGBUILDs are now required to have package() functions while build() functions remain optional.
WIth that renaming, I can confirm this package enables printing with a basic CUPS setup using both the IJ drivers and the generic USB protocol, and scanning using xsane via USB. Printing and scanning over TCP/IP through a Wi-Fi LAN was detected but not tested. Fax was also detected via USB, IJ (USB), and TCP/IP (Wi-Fi), but not tested.

Confirmed working with MX452; including use over bjnp using the cups-bjnp package for Canon printers. That's a good sign its compatible with the whole line (which it should be)
