Here is the full list of printers/printer series that this package should support, based on the cnijfilter2 source: E200, E300, E3100, TR7500, TR7530, TR8500, TR8530, TR8580, TS200, TS300, TS3100, TS5100, TS6100, TS6130, TS6180, TS8100, TS8180, TS9100, TS9180, TS8130, XK70, and XK50. I can confirm that printing works on my TR8520.

@Glinx try installing sane and sane-frontends packages. The Canon utility wasn't able to locate my printer/scanner, but the scanimage command found it:
Also make sure to add your user account to the 'scanner' group (gpasswd --add youusername scanner).

Update.. scangearmp2 runs from terminal, working. xsane cant find it still. Im using wifi. Will try usb when I get hold of a laptop. For the time being, very happy. Thank you.

Thank you for this. Printing works, but not the scanner. No scanner software is installed. Any help much appreciated.
