Aligned with latest patches from Fedora project

@ankhmor Parabola maintains a binary package:

Using it is a matter of adding something like

Server =$repo/os/$arch

Server =$repo/os/$arch

at the end of your pacman.conf, and installing parabola-keyring for pacman to accept their package signatures.

How come the patch has not been added to the package yet?

codybonney commented on 2017-02-06 23:12

@mahe that patch did the trick for me. Thank you!

thanks for the help! got it to work, but i had a little trouble applying either your's and maha's patches.

i copied the patch and saved it as a file (without-fatal.patch), and then tried 'git apply without-fatal.patch' which failed with 'error at line 6'. with maha's patch it failed at line 4. note: i was not trying to apply both patches, just one or the other.

in the end with your instructions i was able to just manualy edit the PKGBUILD file and change the necessary build lines, and the app successfully built.

i would still like to learn the correct way to install a patch for future use should i encounter a more complicated patch.

thanks again!

"pacaur" is the AUR-helper you use? I use "aura". So I don't know if you can easily tweak pacaur to compile the PKGBUILD-script with my changes, instead of the original from

The generic way of installing AUR packages without a helper is described here:

It works like this:
(1) You download the snapshot of the AUR-PKGBUILD from
(2) You unzip the snapshot to your beloved temporary directory
(3) "cd california" into the unzipped directory
(4*) apply my changes to the PGKBUILD script. You may try "git apply <new-c&p-file.patch>"
(4) "makepkg" build the package from source (the PGKBUILD usually includes downloading the source code of the package an all steps to build the binaries needed. I twaeked the build process to ignore constness of some variables during build, @mahe posted another fix, i didn't yet needed)
(5) "sudo pacman -U <the-new-california-pkg.tar.xz>" Install the manually built package using sudo and pacman

If you find the PKGBUILD file in "~/.cache/pacaur/california/" you can start with (4*) in this directory.

Happy date-juggeling!

maha, pokulo, i can't quite figure out how to apply the changes you've supplied.

do i need to creat a shell script containing this code in ~/.cache/pacaur/california/ or do i copy paste it into the pkgbuild file?

could you shed a little light on that for a relative arch newb?

Had the same problem as pokulo and vstuart.
Replacing "static const" by "const" solved the problem for me.
