@intelfx Thank you good sir!

@shoober420 sorry — no idea how I ever ended up maintaining this package. Disowned, it's yours.

This package hasn’t been updated since the middle of 2015. On the main repo PKGBUILD, OpenGL is apparently disabled as well. Very old build options and just generally untrustworthy. @Intelfx, can you please update this, or at least hand over this package to me?

To build with --enable-symbol-lookup, it worked for me to specify CFLAGS=-I/usr/include/libiberty/

Otherwise I'd receive this error:

checking bfd.h usability... yes
checking bfd.h presence... yes
checking for bfd.h... yes
checking libiberty.h usability... no
checking libiberty.h presence... no
checking for libiberty.h... no
checking for cairo's symbol-lookup feature...
checking whether cairo's symbol-lookup feature could be enabled... no (requires bfd)
configure: error: symbol-lookup feature could not be enabled

Can the mesa-libgl build dependency be replaced with libgl? mesa-libgl conflicts with other libgl implementations.

Sorry for the noise, the problem was clearly on my side: a stale, pre-pacman-4.1-directory named cairo.

Strange error here. Recloning the repo does not help, and other -git-packages checkout fine.

Resynced with official package. Does not build with -flto in CFLAGS/LDFLAGS, caveat emptor.

A surprisingly straightforward solution is proposed here: https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?pid=1425254#p1425254

Worked for me.
