makepkg —nocheck solves that particular issue.

It does. As many other options to makepkg, and customizations do many things.

Except, I'm one of those many users, probably the majority, using an AUR helper. I dont want to stop and customize every single PKGBUILD that shows up on AUR with a generic name, if there's no reason for that. It's a public place, catering for the average user, so I just expect reasonable defaults for everyone, and reasonable required dependencies.

I expect these to be provided by default. Forcing an unnecessay check dependency, doesnt seem like a good default to me.

That's was the only reason for my request.

But it's your PKGBUILD anyway. You decide.

If the PKGBUILD is called XYZ-with-special-foo or XYZ-with-extra bar, then I know it's catering for someone's individual special need. And I wouldnt be making anay request then.

Thanks for your work providing thin PKGBUILD.

Could you please remove the unnecessary "fish" (check) dependency ?. You're forcing people who dont use fish to download it, and then throw it away. This is not necessary, and has already been discussed here, https://aur.archlinux.org/packages/bat-extras-git.

As the developer, eth-p, himself says:

.... you don't really even need fish to successfully pass the tests....

Thanks in advance.
