Here's a quick guide to install amdgpu-dkms + mesa-git to get Navi cards working on Linux 5.2.x:

$ cat <<EOF | sudo tee -a /etc/pacman.conf
Server =\$repo/\$arch
SigLevel = PackageOptional

$ sudo pacman -Syu dkms linux-headers mesagit
$ curl | tar -xvzf -
$ cd amdgpu-dkms
$ makepkg -si
$ sudo reboot

Note that amdgpu-dkms cannot be used with linux-zen (the driver will segfault on boot and you need a hard poweroff to turn the machine off).

@TomCatT you should not need to use this package with kernel 5.3, the in-kernel amdgpu driver is already newer than AMDGPU 19.30.

I get this error

LD [M] /var/lib/dkms/amdgpu-19.30/855429/build/ttm/amdttm.o make[1]: [scripts/ /var/lib/dkms/amdgpu-19.30/855429/build/amd/amdgpu] Error 2 make: [Makefile:1626: module/var/lib/dkms/amdgpu-19.30/855429/build] Error 2 make: Leaving directory '/usr/lib/modules/5.3.6-1-MANJARO/build'

@Terence I’m out of town at the moment, but I’ll look into it as soon as I’m back!

@sirn I tried it again but for some reason now it's working. I'm wondering it was something with my graphic card (Vega 56).

Section "Device"
     Identifier "AMD"
     Driver "amdgpu"
     Option "VariableRefresh" "true"
     Option "DRI" "3"

And the black screen occured when I turned it on from the monitor settings.

PS: Do you think you can include the 2 patches (radeon_extratemps-5.2.patch and amdgpu_extratemps-5.2.patch) from the repo I linked you?

@Terence I don’t use Freesync, but can you tell me more about your setup?

Terence commented on 2019-08-23 22:46

Hmm freesync seems broken with this package? I get a black screen upon activating it.

Terence commented on 2019-08-22 22:06

@sirn Ah ok thank you very much for the clarification. Do you think you can include ?

sirn commented on 2019-08-22 16:45

@Terence amdgpu-pro package also includes All Open packages, e.g. amdgpu-core, amdgpu-dkms, llvm, mesa, etc. which are not part of AMDGPU Pro. They're mostly the packaged version of its open source equivalent, e.g. amdgpu-dkms is basically drivers/gpu/drm/amd sources from amd-${major} branches in agd5f/linux's fork (but with DKMS configuration included)

Terence commented on 2019-08-22 16:36

@sirn but isn't it amdgpu-pro? the PKGBUILD sources${major}-${minor}-ubuntu-18.04.tar.xz

sirn commented on 2019-08-22 16:33

@Terence I named this package the same way as AMD's Ubuntu package (amdgpu-dkms_19.30-855429_all.deb) since it's in All Open variant, not in Pro variant. Not sure what would be the best way to name it.
