Good news, I was able to reproduce the error on a different machine. After some googling, I found a solution (from here: Disabling rst2man at configure time seems to do the trick! Let me know if it still doesn't work for you!

I'm sorry, but I'm afraid I can't help you there. Even if I follow your steps, I don't encounter any problems... Here is the equivalent snippet from the build process:

Even after a completely clean build (rm -rf'd everything, pulled the package through cower, and built manually with makepkg, so packer wouldn't get in the way), I get the same build errors.

Can confirm have the same problem. The patch does not seems to be included in the package tarball (AUR or alsa-project).
